Chronic Illness Support Circle

Your Body Is Not the Enemy
It Never Was.
āYou've been managing it. Pushing through it. Negotiating with it. Trying to force it into cooperation while quietly grieving the life you thought you'd have.
What if the way you've been taught to relate to your body is the part that needs to change — not your body itself?
This Circle exists for the woman who is ready to stop being at war with herself.
ā
Welcome š¤ I’m so glad you've found your way here.

She's in the car
again...
Between the appointment and home. The door is closed. No one can see her.
She's exhausted from explaining. From advocating. From holding it together in every waiting room, every phone call, every "you look fine" from someone who loves her but doesn't understand.
And in the quiet of the car, she finally lets herself cry.
Then she wipes her face. Takes a breath. And goes back inside.
This Circle is for her.
Not for tips on how to manage your condition better. Not for a list of things to try. For the emotional weight that lives underneath the diagnosis — the grief, the fear, the exhaustion, the loneliness — that almost no one is talking about.
Before you read further…
If it feels okay,
take one slow breath with me.
Let your shoulders drop a fraction. Let your jaw soften. Nothing to force—just a small return to yourself.
ā
If something in you softened—even slightly—you’re not imagining that.
ā
This is what can happen when we stop relating to ourselves through force and begin relating through presence instead.
Why I created
this Circle...
I've lived with Graves' disease for 22 years and cancer for 6.
For most of that time, I related to my body the way I imagine a lot of us do — as something to be managed. Controlled. Pushed through. Manipulated into cooperating so I could keep showing up for my life.
And then something shifted.
I started to realize I was coming at this all wrong.
My body wasn't fighting against me. It was fighting for me.
Through every diagnosis. Through every treatment. Through everything I put it through and everything life put it through — it kept showing up.
It kept carrying me. It never stopped trying to protect me, even when I was too exhausted or too angry to notice.
It's actually fighting for me. Not against me. And that changes everything.
That realization didn't come from a book or a protocol. It came from slowing down enough to actually listen.
And then I started noticing something in my client work: women who did RIM® (Regenerating Images in Memory) sessions were reporting fewer symptoms afterward. Not because we targeted their illness — but because something in the nervous system shifted. Something that had been bracing, guarding, holding — got to finally let go.
That's what this Circle is built on. The intersection of emotional truth and nervous system science.
A place to stop managing your body and start coming home to it.
A different way of seeing your body...
Most chronic illness support focuses on the practical: how to communicate with doctors, manage symptoms, pace yourself, advocate for better care.
That support matters. But it's not what this Circle is.
This Circle works at a different level — the emotional and relational one. The one that asks:
What if your body isn't your adversary? What if it's been your most loyal companion all along?
Your body has carried you through every hard thing. Every diagnosis, every treatment, every sleepless night, every day you showed up when you had nothing left. It has never stopped working on your behalf — even when it's been in pain, even when it's been unpredictable, even when you've been angry at it.
When we shift from relating to the body through force and control to relating to it through presence and compassion — something changes. In the nervous system. In the emotional body. Sometimes, in the symptoms themselves.
That's not a promise. Every body is different and this is not medical care. But it's what I've seen. In my own body. In the room with real women, more than once.
What this Circle is.
A monthly, trauma-informed group healing experience for women living with chronic or invisible illness — focused on the emotional and relational dimensions of life in a body that hurts.
Each 2-hour live session includes:
— Gentle grounding and nervous system support
— A group RIM® experience (approx. 30 minutes) for deeper emotional release
— Art-therapeutic and music-supported integration practices
— Affirmation and body-relationship practices (including an interactive voice recording)
— Evidence-informed tools to use on flare days and hard weeks
— Optional reflection and witnessing — sharing is never required
The Circle also includes:
— Session replays, available the following day with no expiration
— A private off-social community space for gentle support between sessions
— A mid-month live check-in (added when it serves the group)
This is a virtual space. You can join from your bed, your couch, your car, your safe corner of the world.
What this Circle is Not.
— It's not about fixing yourself
— It's not tips, strategies, or a roadmap for managing your illness better
— It's not about pushing through or overriding your experience
— It's not therapy or medical care
It's about learning how to be in a different relationship with what's happening inside you. One that is slower, more supported, and less alone.
This Circle is for you if…
— You're living with chronic or invisible illness and the emotional weight of it feels just as heavy as the physical
ā
— You're exhausted from explaining, advocating, and holding it together and you have nowhere to put the grief
ā
— You've been relating to your body as something to manage, control, or fight, and part of you is tired of the war
ā
— You want support that includes the nervous system, not just the mindset
ā
— You want to be witnessed without being required to perform your healing
ā
— You want community — but on a bad body day, leaving the house isn't possible
ā
— You're ready to try a different kind of relationship with your body
This may not be the right fit if…
— You're in active crisis and need immediate clinical or emergency support
— You're looking for medical treatment, diagnosis, or psychotherapy
(This Circle is supportive and educational, not clinical care)

The First 3 Months (Our Monthly Themes)
These sessions are shaped by what the women in the room need most. The themes emerge from the truth of where we are together.

Facilitated by Jewelle Boldt Zehr
I'm Jewelle Boldt Zehr — Certified Trauma-Informed Life Coach, Certified Art Therapy Life Coach, and RIM® Facilitator trained with Dr. Deborah Sandella.
I've lived with Graves' disease for 22 years and cancer for 6. I know what it is to function on the outside while feeling unsafe inside your own body. I know the quiet grief of the car. I know the exhaustion of having to explain yourself to people who love you but don't quite understand.
What began to change things for me wasn't finding the right protocol. It was changing how I related to my body — from something to be controlled, to something worth listening to. From adversary to ally.
For 8+ years, I've supported women through trauma recovery using RIM®, nervous system tools, and art-therapeutic practices. The Chronic Illness Support Circle brings that work into a space that finally addresses the piece most programs leave out: the emotional and relational truth of living in a body that keeps surprising you.
You don't have to carry this alone anymore.

FAQ
Do I have to share?
Never. Sharing is always optional. Come as you are — witness, rest, receive. That's enough.
What if I’m having a flare day? You're still welcome. Come as you are, use the replay, or do what's sustainable for your body that day. There's no right way to show up here.
Is this virtual?
Yes. You can join from your bed, your couch, your car — wherever feels safest.
Are replays included?
Yes. Available the following day, with no expiration date.
Is this therapy or medical care?
No. This is trauma-informed coaching and facilitation within a clear scope. It is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy — and it's not trying to be. Please continue working with your licensed providers.
Do I need art supplies?
Use what you have. Simple paper + markers/colored pencils is enough.
Is there support between the monthly sessions?Yes. Members have access to a private off-social community space for gentle connection, check-ins, and integration support between sessions. Participate as much or as little as feels right.
Your body has been carrying you
this whole time.
Through the diagnoses. The treatments. The appointments. The nights that were too long and the mornings that were too hard.
It hasn't given up on you.
This Circle is an invitation to stop giving up on it.
To meet it — maybe for the first time — with the same compassion you've given everyone else.
To come home to yourself.
You are welcome here, exactly as you are.
